Grow Your Business & Your Sales With Instagram Shopping Discover

Discover – Shop – Buy!

It is safe to say that the internet has completely changed the way that we shop and interact businesses. Even the users who don’t shop online frequently will search online for products, prices and availability before leaving the house to head to the shops. We now have access to a world of products and services at our fingertips that is allowing us to complete purchases within a matter of clicks. The world has come a long way since 1995 when Amazon first launched as an online book seller and eBay who created a platform that introduced the auction system into our current retailing.

Instagram launched on October 6th, 2010 and now the app is currently one of the most popular social networks worldwide. It is known as a “visual” social media platform because it focuses on photo and video sharing. Instagram now has 1 billion monthly active users, and 500 million daily active users! It’s safe to say that its popularity has sky rocketed and is continuing to grow, making changes and upgrades to provide features that allow the app to appeal to an astronomical audience.

One of the features that has recently been introduced is Instagram Shopping. With this feature you can create posts that act as a visual shop front for your business that will allow users to simply tap the image to explore your products. You can tag up to 5 products per image post or up to 20 products per carousel ad. You can still edit the image like you would a regular Instagram post by adding filters and captions. Advertising in Instagram Stories also offers an interactive, easy access to your product information, where you can add a personalised “product sticker” before you share your story. Instagram Stories are a type of ephemeral content, the big buzzword of 2018 as user behaviour switches to shorter attention spans and the FOMO factor increases. Currently, 90 million accounts on Instagram tap on a shopping post to learn more about products every month!  Your posts will be shown on the Explore section of the app to people who have shown a strong interest or similar interest to your brand or what you are advertising. When you create an Instagram post with tagged products, the post will be shared with your Instagram audience and Explore, where 200 million accounts visit daily. Learn More

Three new features have just been added to Instagram Shopping, and just in time for Christmas! The Shopping Collection is the first new feature, that allows users to save their favourite products in their personal collection shopping list, this makes it easy to revisit potential purchases. The Second new feature is Video Shopping posts now allow users to shop in videos posted by the brands that they follow. Users will see a shopping icon in the bottom left corner of the post that they will be able to tap and interact with, seeing all of the products featured in a list format with item names and prices. Business Profiles holds the third new feature, which is a redesign of the “Shop Tab” directly on the business profiles, that users can tap to view all of the products that are listed in the shopping posts

Instagram Shopping could become a detrimental part of your business, targeting approximately 39% of all internet users, meaning that you will be able to reach a third of the internet’s potential customers instantaneously! The number of people that would prefer to make purchases via their mobile device is ever increasing. 72% of users have brought a product that they saw on Instagram, and 60% have discovered a new product of interest on Instagram. This provides more incentive for business to customer companies to get involved considering that 90% of the top 100 brands in the world are currently using and advertising on Instagram.
